Why choose the TSC-441?
If you sew heavy leather for a living, the right machine pays for itself in time saved and work you no longer have to turn away. Here is what the TSC-441 gives you:
● It takes the heavy stuff. Thick leather, layered webbing and heavy bonded thread are what this machine was designed for.
● Seams stay true. Triple feed moves every layer together, so stitch lines stay straight and even from start to finish.
● Saddlery-length stitches. Set stitches up to 11 mm for the bold, traditional look customers expect on tack and leather goods.
● Plenty of room to work. The long arm and 20 mm foot lift make bulky, awkward pieces far easier to handle.
● Control at slow speed. The servo motor lets you inch through a seam on an expensive hide, then pick up pace on the long runs.
● Backed by people who know it. Talk to us before you buy, and have it serviced by our own engineers afterwards.
Who is it for?
The TSC-441 suits saddlers and tack makers, holster and sheath makers, and leather workers producing belts, collars, leads and heavy bags. It is equally at home with webbing and safety manufacturers sewing straps, slings and harnesses, and with canvas workshops making tarpaulins, marine covers and outdoor gear.
Is it the right machine for you? If most of your work is upholstery, vinyl or medium-weight leather, probably not. A standard walking foot machine like the Wilcox & Gibbs EA 1342 will be easier to live with and cost you less. Give us a call and we'll help you choose.
Information
Some jobs need more than a walking foot. Saddle skirts, holsters, bridle work, lifting slings – this is thick, stubborn material sewn with heavy thread, and a standard upholstery machine will struggle with it. The Wilcox & Gibbs TSC-441 is built for exactly this kind of work.
It is a 441-class machine: a long cylinder arm, a large shuttle hook and a triple feed that grips the work from above and below so nothing creeps or shifts. You get stitches up to 11 mm long and room to lift the foot 20 mm, which means thick layers go under easily and come out with a clean, even seam. It arrives on an industrial table with a quiet servo motor, ready to set up and sew.

What does "441-class" mean?
It's the trade name for the heaviest type of cylinder arm machine. A 441 has a large shuttle hook, long stitches and a high foot lift, so it can sew thicker leather and heavier thread than a standard walking foot machine.
How is it different from a normal walking foot machine?
A normal walking foot machine is ideal for upholstery and medium leather. The TSC-441 goes much further: thicker material, heavier thread, longer stitches. If you're making saddlery, holsters or harness, this is the machine you need.
Why a cylinder arm?
You can slide curved and part-made pieces over the arm and sew them where they sit. Bag gussets, holsters and saddle parts are far easier this way than on a flatbed.
How thick can it sew?
That depends on the material, needle and thread. The 20 mm foot lift tells you how much fits under the foot, not how much it will stitch through. Tell us about your work and we'll advise.
What thread and needles does it use?
It's built for heavy bonded nylon or polyester thread [confirm range] and uses [794 system – confirm] needles. Match the needle size to the thread – the wrong combination is the most common cause of skipped stitches. We can recommend the right pairing.
Will it sew thinner leather?
Yes, with a finer needle and thread. But if light and medium work is most of what you do, a standard walking foot machine will suit you better.
I've never used an industrial machine. Is it too much for me?
Not if you're willing to learn. Start slowly on offcuts and you'll soon get the feel of it. Call us and we'll talk you through setting up.
Can I see it before I buy?
Of course. Visit our showroom at 286 Streatham High Road, London. Call 0208 769 2998 first and we'll have it ready to demonstrate.
