Why choose the Bx 8200T-4AT?

Most overlockers do a good job on a single layer of cotton. Where they struggle is everything else: multiple plies, slippery linings, stretch fabrics, or a seam joining two materials that feed at different speeds. That's the work this machine is made for.

● Seams that stay level. The top and bottom feeds work as a pair, so layers don't creep, pucker or wave.

● Quiet and economical. The servo motor only draws power while you sew, and with no belt there's far less noise and vibration in the workroom.

● Cleaner garments. The compact, sealed body is designed to keep oil inside the machine and off your fabric.

● Steady at full speed. The presser foot shaft design helps stop fabric pushing back when you're working fast.

● Ready to set up. It comes on an industrial table and stand with a thread stand, so there's nothing extra to source.

Every machine is checked by our own engineers before it leaves us. And after you've bought it, we're still here. Our London workshop repairs and services industrial overlockers, and you can call us for advice at any point.

Who is it for?

This machine earns its place in workrooms where fabric doesn't always behave:

● Clothing manufacturers and CMT units running production overlocking day in, day out

● Sportswear, activewear and swimwear makers sewing stretch fabrics that wander under a standard foot

● Lingerie and lined-garment producers handling slippery or delicate layers

● Designers and small studios stepping up from samples to proper production runs

● Tailoring and alterations shops that want consistent seams across very different fabrics

● Colleges and universities equipping fashion and textile production rooms

A quick word of honesty: this isn't a machine for canvas, upholstery or leather. If most of your work is heavyweight, give us a call and we'll point you to something better suited.

And if you mainly overlock single layers of cotton or standard knits, you may not need a top feed at all. Have a look through our industrial overlockers, or ring us and we'll talk it through.

Information

Anyone who has overlocked two layers of slinky jersey knows the problem. The bottom layer moves with the feed dogs, the top layer drags behind, and by the end of the seam one side is longer than the other.

The BX 8200T-4AT is built to stop that. As well as the usual feed underneath, it has a second feed on the presser foot that pulls the top layer through at the same time. Both layers travel together, so the seam comes out flat and level, piece after piece.

It's a 4-thread industrial overlocker with a direct drive servo motor built into the head. It runs quietly, uses less electricity than an old clutch motor, and responds the moment you touch the pedal. It arrives as a complete workstation on its own table and stand.

Looking after your machine
  • A few minutes of care keeps an industrial overlocker running sweetly for years. Check the oil level at the start of each day and top up with industrial sewing machine oil. Brush the lint out of the loopers, knife and feed area regularly. And change the needle as soon as stitches start to skip, rather than waiting for it to break.
  • In regular use we'd suggest a service once a year. Our engineers handle that in our London workshop. Find out more about repairs and servicing.

Delivery, Installation & Returns

What does "top feed" actually mean?

On a standard overlocker, only the feed dogs underneath move the fabric, so the top layer tends to lag. A top feed adds a second feed on the presser foot that moves the top layer at the same time. Both layers go through together and the seam stays level.

Do I really need a top feed overlocker?

If you sew several layers at once, slippery fabrics, stretch knits or seams joining two different materials, you'll see the difference straight away. If you mostly overlock single layers of cotton or standard knits, a standard overlocker will probably do the job.

Will it handle stretch and jersey?

Yes, and this is where it shines. The top feed and differential feed together keep knits from stretching or waving. Run a test on a scrap first and adjust the feed to suit your fabric.

Can it sew denim, canvas or upholstery?

It's designed for light to medium-weight fabrics. For heavier materials, call us and we'll recommend a machine that's up to it.

Can it sew 3-thread as well as 4-thread?

Yes. Take out one needle and you have a narrower 3-thread overlock for edge finishing.

What's the benefit of direct drive?

The motor sits inside the machine head rather than hanging under the table on a belt. It's quieter, uses less power, and starts and stops exactly when you want it to.

Will it be ready to use when it arrives?

It comes on its table and stand and has been tested by our engineers before dispatch. Give us a call to talk through delivery and installation for your premises.

What if it needs repairing?

We'll look after it. Our engineers repair and service industrial overlockers in our London workshop.
