Information
If you've ever wrestled a king-size quilt through a standard machine, you'll understand why the Continental M8 Professional exists. It gives you 343mm of space to the right of the needle on a flat, seamless bed, so the bulk of the quilt has somewhere to go and you can keep your hands on the work.
It's Janome's top sewing and quilting machine. Janome describes it as the fastest top-loading home sewing machine you can buy, with a straight stitch speed of 1,300 stitches per minute. Add a DC brushless motor and the Accurate Stitch Regulator, both included, and you get even stitches in free-motion work, steady power through thick layers, and a machine that handles most of the fiddly jobs for you.
One thing to know before you go further: the M8 sews and quilts, but it doesn't embroider. If you need embroidery as well, the Continental M17 is the one to look at.

Delivery, Installation & Returns
Do your machines require installation?
Industrial machines often require setup, calibration and proper configuration. Professional installation is strongly recommended to ensure correct operation and long-term performance.
Does the Continental M8 do embroidery?
No. It's a dedicated sewing and quilting machine. If you want embroidery as well, have a look at the Janome Continental M17.
Is the stitch regulator included, or is it an extra?
It's included. The Accurate Stitch Regulator comes in the box with four feet: closed-toe, open-toe, clear-view and ruler work.
What does the stitch regulator actually do?
In free-motion quilting, your stitch length depends on how fast you move the fabric, which is hard to keep steady by hand. The A.S.R. measures that movement and speeds the needle up or slows it down to match, so your stitches stay the same length.
How big a quilt can I work on?
There's 343mm (13.5") of space to the right of the needle and 140mm of height. The extra-wide extension table in the box gives the quilt more support as it feeds through.
Will it sew heavy fabrics like canvas and denim?
Yes. The brushless motor and AcuFeed Flex are designed for heavier and layered fabrics. For daily leather, upholstery or production work, though, we'd steer you towards an industrial walking-foot machine. It's built for that workload, and we'll happily talk you through the options
I'm fairly new to sewing. Is this too much machine for me?
You can learn on it, but you'd be paying for features you won't use for a while. Most beginners are better off with a simpler Janome first. Give us a ring and we'll help you choose.
Can you service it for me later on?
Yes.We service and repair domestic sewing machines in our London workshop.
